Anti-wrinkle injections

Botulinum toxin is fast becoming the treatment of choice for the reduction, elimination and prevention of fine lines and wrinkles. Botulinum toxin is a purified protein produced by the Clostridium botulinum bacterium. When injected directly into a muscle it blocks the release of a substance called acetylcholine, the substance responsible for transmitting electrical impulses that elicit muscle contraction. Restricting the contraction of certain muscles gives improvement cosmetically on the surface of the skin where lines have accumulated.

Everyone is an individual, and as such the results will vary between individuals. Assessment and expected clinical outcomes will be fully delivered and explained in the consultation. Fine lines can be expected to disappear after one treatment and botulinum toxin will also greatly minimise and prevent the formulation of new lines. Moderate lines can be expected to appear a lot softer, smoother and in some cases disappear depending on the severity of them. Severe lines and permanent muscle contraction can be expected to appear softer, lifted and release tension.

Improvements in the lines and relaxing of the muscle will begin to be apparent after 3-10 days following treatment and results should be expected to last approximately 3-4 months.

Dermal fillers

Dermal fillers can be utilised to improve, restore and rebuild in various areas of the face. The natural process of ageing includes volume tissue loss, skin laxity, reduction of fat cells, loss of moisture and reduced collagen production, all of which can be greatly improved with the use of dermal fillers.

Collagen and elastin fibres break down with age, resulting in deep lines and folds, sagging effects, and loss of dynamic contours.

Treatments involving dermal fillers are very individual and tailored to the patient following a thorough assessment and evaluation completed during the consultation.

Aesthetic results from dermal fillers can vary as individuals can break down the products at different rates for different reasons including age, medical conditions and varying body metabolisms. The average individual will maintain aesthetic results from dermal fillers for an average of 8-18 months.

Dermal fillers can replace lost volume and contour shape in the…

  • Mid-face cheek and cheekbone area

  • Marionette/jowl area

  • Nasolabial area

  • Chin re-balancing

  • Jaw and profile balancing

  • Temple rejuvenation

  • Perioral sculpting

  • Smoker lines

  • Scar improvement

An exact time for the longevity of the effects of filler can depend on many varying factors including age, medical status, product quality, product amount and product placement. As dermal filler stimulates the collagenesis process then results should continue to be seen for a long period of time following treatment.  Aesthetic results from dermal fillers can vary as individuals can break down the products at different rates for different reasons including age, medical conditions and varying body metabolisms. ‘I had fillers some years ago; is it OK to have more in the same area?’

Having dermal filler in the same area can be at the discretion of your practitioner. Previous treatment details including product placement, type and amount need to be taken into consideration.

‘Can I have a reaction to dermal filler?’

It is extremely rare to react to hyaluronic acid based products with very little incidences occurring.

‘What if I don’t like the results?’

Hyaluronic acid-based dermal filler can be dissolved using a medication called Hyalase. It is very rare that this is used due to a patient not liking their results as, if a thorough consultation has taken place, then expected results should be seen.

Lip augmentation

Research increasingly identifies that there are certain characteristics associated with the lips that we consider beautiful, including natural looking fullness, well defined borders, and a soft smooth appearance. As we age the lips tend to become thinner, flatter and the loss and lengthening of the philtrum (area between nose and lips) becomes noticeable. These effects can be extremely ageing, especially to the female face, so maintenance of the lips as a feature is greatly recommended. Enhancing upper and lower lips adds a natural looking fullness and balance to the body of the lip, whilst placing filler in the border of the lip provides a crisp, well defined shape that improves contour and definition.

Dermal filler in the lips will improve texture and surrounding fine lines, resulting in softer, smoother looking lips with collagen stimulation to keep lips looking fuller for longer.

Hyaluronic acid based dermal filler can be dissolved using a medication called Hyalase. It is very rare that this is used due to a patient not liking their results as, if a thorough consultation has taken place, then expected results should be seen.
